CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
A. Background
Water potential is the chemical potential of water in a system or part of the system. Expressed in units of pressure and chemical potential compared to pure water (also in the units of pressure) at atmospheric pressure and the temperature and the same height of pure potential is determined to be zero. Contributing factors are the gradient of concentration or activity, temperature, pressure, solution to the potential effects of chemical solvents, matrices.
